A Very Merry Christmas

Despite my best efforts, these Christmas posts tend to become a little maudlin as I look back on the year that has gone. My frustrations about the state of the world tend to spill over when I’m trying to be upbeat about the season of peace and goodwill.

I would, for instance, end up deploring the ongoing wars and unrest that seem as prevalent today as they’ve ever been, condemning the hatred and intolerance and outright ignorance (flat Earth, anyone?) I see daily on social media, rolling my eyes and sighing over the steady encroachment into the writing world of generative AI, and bemoaning the dire state of Welsh rugby. Don’t even get me started on politics, at home or abroad.

Just as well, then, there’ll be no reflections this year. Short and simple it is. A bit like me, boom boom.

Here’s wishing everyone a merry and peaceful Christmas. May your stockings be full, your turkeys moist and your cups of joy overflowing.

Completely without shame, I’m recycling last year’s snap of me and Milo in our digital festive hats, and I’ll leave the last word to him in his best Father Christmas voice.

Arf arf arf!
